Success at the Spring Czech Brewers Awards
Yesterday marked the end of the 15th edition of the largest competition for beers from microbreweries in Europe - the Spring Czech Brewers Awards. Our brewmaster, Prokop Herák, was also present as a taster.
This two-day event, held on Friday and Saturday, March 24th and 25th, at the Pivovarský dvůr Zvíkov, saw 149 breweries entering 709 beer samples across 15 categories. The event took place in the main hall of the Pivovarský dvůr Zvíkov under the patronage of the Czech-Moravian Association of Microbreweries.
To ensure that all samples could be evaluated at the Spring Czech Brewers' Prize, the event has been held over two days since 2018, and more than 20 people work behind the scenes to ensure its smooth and high-quality execution. This year, 94 tasters evaluated beers in ten basic tasting committees and four final committees. The Czech-Moravian Association of Microbreweries selects all tasters very carefully, and they taste in a consensual manner. They must agree on which beer is good enough and of sufficient quality to advance to the next round. Similarly, they must agree on which beer will emerge as the winner in the end.
In the most prestigious category of light Czech lagers, approximately 180 beer samples were entered. And now hold onto your seats! Our Lednice Lager 12 made it to the final round among the top 9 lagers that could be tasted at the competition. Similarly, our IPA 14 also scored well, making it to the final nine in the India Pale Ale category out of approximately 60 samples.
It's a tremendous success for us, and we're thrilled that out of so many excellent beers, ours made it among the top-rated ones. Even though we didn't quite make it to the podium, we'll strive to stand on it next time. We're grateful to all the supporters of our brewery for their encouragement, and we look forward to meeting with you over a glass of our honest lager, for example.
